This design is for an opera house competition in Guangzhou, China. The scheme consists of a steel sculpture twice as tall as the Eiffel Tower, (750m/2,460 ft.) and two concrete volumes, one holding the opera house, and the other a museum. The tower is of steel construction, restrained by braces. Amoeba shaped in plan, the tower is formed by fifty vertical tubes. This design symbolizing the Chinese music instrument “shen”, it represents that the music is spreading into the sky of Guangzhou and shares its excitement for the people of Guangzhou
